The most important function in a Slavic family is the bridal festival, which is typically celebrated in flower, summer or fall. It was a time for celebration and delight, as it marked the beginning of the new existence. Military married after successful promotions, anglers held their weddings after a good catch and shepherds tied the knot after the birthing winter.

Before the wedding ceremony, the bride is usually given a rushnyk ( a flower with a bridge). Her kids existing her with bread and salt and beg for their blessing. They also give the couple ektenias ( a ring ) that symbolizes a slavic marriage and a promise of faithfulness and fidelity. The bride wears a shroud, which she never takes off, except to go to the bath. It was considered a bad omen to taking off the veil during the meeting, and in ancient times it was typical to punish a wedding who did so.

After the ceremony the brides walk through the streets of the community, with folks throwing grains of grain, sweets and currencies for happiness and prosperity. They even quit at native monuments and provide memorial. The wedding ceremony is supervised by a master of ceremonies called a” Tamada”. He is a raucous companion who runs the numerous events.

When the wife leaves her parents ‘ property, she takes with her a blanket that she should maintain, not to give away or let somebody touch. The groom’s relatives tested the wife by asking her questions and requesting water from her. If they placed cash on a basket, the wedding had offer them ocean or answers their inquiries.
